GlobalVideoHQ recently had the opportunity to shoot aerial video of the beautiful Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth during preparations for the Crowne Plaza Invitational golf tournament. We were honored and excited when CBS Sports asked to use the footage during their coverage of the event. The network not only incorporated our aerial shots into the commentary and interstertials throughout their two-day broadcast, but also used several pieces of footage in a special profile of legendary golfer Ben Hogan.
The segment opens with a fly-in through the Crowne Plaza archway and over the statue of Hogan as you enter the Colonial. This was achieved using a gimbal-mounted HD camera on a lightweight quadcopter, which is nimble enough to maneuver through tight spaces. Then, you can see numerous aerial shots of the greens, sand traps and water hazards, filmed by our talented UAV pilot Craig Thompson, from 0:46 – 1:07. At 1:27 – 1:41, the segment closes with a soaring shot across the greens and over the Colonial sign on the fairway.
The video here is captured from the television broadcast and therefore low resolution. Stay tuned for our own high-res remix of the footage, as we create a stunning highlight real that showcases the beauty and marketing power of golf course aerial video!
